[ Abstract ] Objective To understand the psychological state of patients with vitiligo and explore the corresponding psychological nursing measures. Methods The psychological status of 121 patients (study group) was investigated using the Symptom Checklist 90 (SCL-90) and the results were compared with the Chinese norm (control group). Results The statistical indexes of SCL-90 in the study group were compared with the control group. After statistical analysis, the difference between the two groups was significant. Conclusion The mental health status of patients with vitiligo is generally lower than that of the general population. Establishing a good relationship between nurses and patients, rehabilitation guidance and psychological counseling, and playing the role of the family can alleviate or relieve the patient's physical and mental pain and help patients recover soon.


    Vitiligo is a common acquired pigmented skin disease, which is characterized by skin pigmentation and white spots, which seriously damages the skin's beauty and causes psychological disorders. Because of affecting the patient's aesthetics and social interaction, the patient's mental and psychological burden is relatively heavy, and patients hope to get better treatment. Modern medical model believes that vitiligo is a psychosomatic disease, and its pathogenesis, development and outcome are related to psychosocial factors [1]. This study was designed to investigate the mental health status of patients with vitiligo and provide a theoretical basis for the implementation of effective psychological care.


    1. Investigation on mental health status of patients with vitiligo


    1.1 Materials and methods

    A total of 121 newly diagnosed patients with vitiligo from April 2008 to October 2008 were included in the study group, including 49 males and 72 females, aged 12 to 55 years, with an average of 30.3 years. All patients had cultural averages. Above the level of primary school education, without intellectual and mental disorders, consciously cooperate with the physician to complete the questionnaire. The control group was 110 norm.


    1.1.2 Survey method


    Survey methods using individual conversations and written questionnaires, including questions of patients' concerns, awareness of vitiligo, and knowledge of rehabilitation and health care; using the Mental Health Symptoms Self-Assessment Scale (Symptom Checklist 90, SCL-90) [2] The psychological status of 121 patients was investigated.
